Alfresco showers & nature friendly compost toilets

Penhill Park is a nearly wild  site with superb views over the hills and vales of Wensleydale, in the Yorkshire Dales National Park.

There’s an abundance of rural beauty to explore and conveniently, the shops and restaurants of the market town of Leyburn are an easy 10-minute drive away.

Set within a 100-acre working farm, this family-friendly site is at the foot of Penhill (which means easy access to hiking routes) and also adjacent to Middleham Moor, where you can watch racehorses from the local yards exercise on the gallops every morning.

There are also two pubs about 20 minutes’ walk away. Dogs are welcome to accompany you on your meanders, but they must be kept on a lead as livestock grazes the surrounding fields. We are equipped with nature friendly composting toilets alfresco showers, and a washing-up area.

We also have ready pitched Bell Tents for those who would prefer a more relaxed getaway with no tent pitching!

We operate a ‘leave nothing behind but footprints’ policy, so be sure to take all your waste home with you, although bins are provided for food waste and wrappers.

Depending on weather conditions, firepits are generally allowed, but please don’t use disposable barbecues or light campfires on the ground.

We also like to preserve the dark skies and attract lots of stargazers, therefore modest fairy lights and solar type camping lights are allowed, flashing led lights and flag pole type lights are not permitted.
